I turned down a payed review today.
While I know most people wouldn’t write about what they didn’t do, I thought it was important to share with you all. I’m not a complete sell out.
The review was for Firefly, the phone sellers (I always see their ads on the MSN homepage), and I thought to myself, “there is no way I can write 200 words about this company and be honest.” And if nothing else, I’m always honest in my writing.
They wanted me to write about their current sales, and how easy it is to get a phone from them. How do I know it’s easy? I bought my cell phone in Wal-Mart. That was pretty easy. And a post about sales would just make me look like a classy splogger, and I’m not about to fall into that trap.
So, while I’m broke, and could have used that thirty dollars, I turned down a paying review. Because it wouldn’t have been right.
So please, donate some cash, alright?

It wouldnt have been right for WHAT? Gee, lets use some logic here: I am broke, I need to eat, I need to heat my living space, I need to PAY for that space,
but I turn down PAYING for principle, most likely, and then want OTHERS to donate money to me?
Screw that. Get your head on straight.
Obviously, you’re not a regular reader of the blog.
That was sarcasm. If I really wanted “donations,” you’re right, I wouldn’t turn down something that offered to pay me. And if I wanted donations, you’d think that I’d have well marked places all over the blog that says “give me money.”
So, it was a joke. So sorry you felt the need to attack.
Yeah, Lisa, I looked far and wide for the “Donate” button everywhere, but no one where could I find refuge for a sympathetic soul like me.
yeah fuck you mike.
liz, you should have accepted the review and just bash them on the post.
My rule is never take money for something that makes you feel uncomfortable. If you have even the slightest hunch that you’ll feel bad in any way for participating, it is worth much more to say no.
So Mike, stop being such a schmuck, okay?
Way to go, Lisa. Integrity is what makes life worth it. Without it, everything looks, feels, tastes, and smells just a little bit off. Congratulations on holding on to it.
To be fair, sarcasm is probably one of the hardest things to detect in writing. This sorta thing can get to be a dozy when you read a lot of xanga blogs. Uh oh what did I just admit to?
