When I joined 9rules, I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to be getting into. I’m a personal-blog sorta person, and they seem to be a network full of important people, writing about a multitude of important things. I was afraid I wasn’t going to fit in, but luckily enough, that wasn’t the case.

I have made some good friends through 9rules (you know who you are), and when Karmatosed introduced “Blog Club,” I was all over it. Blog Club is sort of  like a book club–a catagory is set, everyone reads those blogs, then posts about the blogs, and then reads other posts by blog club members. Of course, the catagories are 9rules catagories, and the sites are 9rules sites. Would a 9rules club be run any other way?

Of course, there have been “Fight Club” references: First rule of blog club is no one blogs about blog club. It makes me giggle for a minute, and then wonder if the person making the reference has ever read the book.

Anyway.

The first blog club is all about the Anime community, which I know nothing about. I’ve always been interested in Anime, but the closest I’ve come to watching it are shows that I don’t think people would consider Anime at all. You know, Pokemon and Dragonball Z.

I think I kinda missed the boat on this, as I love cartoons, but Anime is just so much more involved than I can really handle. I love the animation, though, and when flipping through the channels, I might stop for a minute or two to watch what’s going on.

BasuGasuBakuhatsu, one of three sites in the Anime community, posts about first impressions in Anime. He throws up screenshots, cover shots, and any other shots that depict what he’s talking about. I love looking at Anime, and this site is all about eye candy for me. I must confess, I don’t know much about what he’s talking about, but I do enjoy looking at the pictures he’s sharing with the world.

Michael Ono has an anime blog in the community, and this one I can understand. He’s currently infatuated with Honey and Clover, and his recent posts delve into character and plot analysis of this anime. He’s also got story logs, so if you’ve missed an episode, you won’t be caught behind. I really enjoy his style of writing, and I learned a lot about anime and characterization that I didn’t know before.

Jeff Lawson runs the third blog in the anime catagory, Hop Step Jump. Reading his about page, it’s obvious he’s been into anime since childhood. He posts some stunning artwork from the animes, and posts about why he likes or dislikes a show. His post about High School Girls, while going on about why the show is bad, seriously makes me want to watch it.

All three of these blogs make me want to jump into anime in a serious way. I’m already a Disney fan, but I could stand to get out more and watch more adult animation.  I’m rather glad Karmatosed set this as the topic for this weeks blog club, because I probably wouldn’t have checked out these blogs otherwise.

And look at all the cool stuff I would have missed.
